Case Hardening Steel

Case hardening steel is a type of steel that undergoes a surface-hardening process to increase its wear resistance while retaining a tough and ductile core. This is achieved by diffusing carbon or nitrogen into the surface layer without affecting the inner material, creating a hard outer shell with a softer, more impact-resistant core.
